XOLO has just launched the country’s first smartphone powered by the NVIDA Tegra 3 quad-core mobile processor which is priced very competitively at Rs 15,999.
The Tegra 3 chip is capable of giving devices faster performance and a much better gaming experience. While the chip was found in tablets, this is the first Indian smartphone to come with the powerful chip.
To complete the package, the phone has a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor with an additional battery saver core and 12-core GPU which should actually make the smartphone perform more smoothly then other Android devices at this price.
Taking advantage of the Tegra chip, the phone comes with TegraZone, a store where where consumers can download Tegra-optimized Android games.
Other specifications of the phone include a 4.7 inch HD IPS display, a 8 megapixel rear and a 2 megapixel front camera, 1GB RAM, 4GB of internal memory that’s expandable up to 32GB.
The XOLO Play T1000 is available for purchase online at xolo.in, other online stores and also in retail stores across the country at a price of Rs 15,999.
XOLO Play vs Micromax Canvas 4
The XOLO Play will go head-to-head with the Micromax Canvas 4 which was launched last week at the price of 17,999. While both the phones have a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, the screen of the XOLO Play will be better since it’s a 4.7 inch screen compared to the 5 inch screen on the Canvas 4.
In terms of size, the Canvas 4 is 8.9mm thick and weighs 158 gm weight while the XOLO Play is heavier and bigger at 167gms and of 10.4mm thickness.
The place where the XOLO Play completely scores over the Canvas 4 is the processor. While the Canvas 4 comes with a 1.2 GHz quad core processor and a PowerVR5XT GPU, the XOLO Play comes 1.5 GHz Nvidia Tegra quad core processor with a 12-core Nvidia ULP GeForce graphics processing unit. Based on the processing power if you are a gamer you should definitely go with the XOLO Play. It is basically a phone designed with gamers in mind.
The Micromax does come with some gimmick features like blow to unlock and vertical panorama which one won’t find on the XOLO Play. Also the Micromax Canvas comes with 4.2 out of the box with Micromax promising OTA updates while the XOLO Play comes with Android 4.1.2 with no word on updates.
