Yahoo India offloads Bharatmatrimony Stake For $20mn

Yahoo India has sold its stake in Consim Info to Bessemer Venture Partners, Mayfield Fund and Canaan Partners for Rs 100Cr (~$20mn), valuing the company at $190 million (~INR 900 Cr). Yahoo had 12% stake in Consim Info, which runs Bharatmatrimony, ClickJobs, IndiaProperty and several other classified sites.

“Bessemer, the only new investor, led Consim’s third funding round with 50 crore while Mayfield bought shares worth Rs 36 crore and Canaan Rs 14 crore”(via).

Consim Info raised $8.65Mn in it’s first round of funding (in 2006) from Yahoo and Canaan Partners. The second round of funding, $11.75Mn was carried by Yahoo , Canaan Partners and Mayfield Fund. The company has launched various niche initiatives like community matrimony, Elitematrimony, Facial Search and initiatives for Rural India.
