If I was an early BlackBerry buyer, I’d be kicking myself now. BlackBerry has just announced that the company will sell BlackBerry Z10 in India for Rs 17,990 for the next 60 days. The pretext is that its the company’s 10th anniversary in the Indian market.
The phone was launched for Rs 43,490 in India in February last year. In September last year, barely 7 months after launch, the phone was being sold for Rs 29,990. (Read our review of the BlackBerry Z10).
I don’t think we will see any other phone maker drop prices like this anytime soon! It reminds us of a fire sale more than anything else. The struggling phone maker, has been cutting prices of its other models as well.
The BlackBerry Q10 with Qwerty keyboard, launched last year for over Rs 45,000 is now selling for a little over Rs 30,000 now. The BlackBerry Q5 which was launched at Rs 24,990 in July last year, is now selling for a little over Rs 18,000 now.
The BlackBerry 9720, which runs on an older version of the BlackBerry operating system and is much lighter on specs, is still selling at about Rs 15,000. It was launched in September last year for Rs 15,990!
Coming Soon $200 phone
