Media and education major Pearson has announced investment in Zaya Labs, a Mumbai based startup that provides tech enabled solutions for low income schools.

This is Pearson’s first investment in the affordable learning segment. The idea is to encourage technology use in private affordable schools.

Zaya Labs uses unconventional classroom methods to teach students. It splits instructional time between content delivered through a tablet and teachers and a peer-to-peer group.

Earlier, Bangalore based startup Experifun & Sudiksha Knowledge Solutions have raised seed funding from Pearson’s Edupreneurs program earlier.
