Zomato’s Foodie Index Helps Find Neighborhoods With Good Food

Restaurant discovery service Zomato has announced the launch of Foodie Index, a score that indicates the quality of restaurants in a particular area and is making available to developers as an API.

Zomato uses local restaurant information and user-generated content to calculate scores for the Foodie Index. Travel and Real Estate services can then use this to inform users on the quality of dining options available in a particular area.

The Foodie Index aims to facilitate the decision-making process of people looking for apartments or hotels. Property portal CommonFloor has already integrated the Zomato Foodie Index API into its service across India.

So far looking for hotels and apartments online has often been driven by things such as proximity to workplace, public amenities, etc. However, with the Foodie Index, people can now zero in on neighbourhoods that offer good food.
