Zomato is said to have laid off around 70-100 employees or 1.2% of its manpower to cut down costs. These employees were mainly part of its customer support team housed in Gurgaon.
It is learned that a lot of operations at food delivery platforms like Zomato and Swiggy have been automated to make the operations cost-effective. The company, however, stated that these lay-offs were due to the improvement in service quality and the number of support queries going down.
Earlier in 2015, the company laid-off 300 employees in a bid to focus on revenue-generating features.
