The integration will show up as a ‘Uber button’ besides a restaurant’s address, hitting which will open up the Uber app if installed on a user’s smartphone.
The service is being rolled out globally, and while it was initially being tested in London and South Africa, the company has added 27 new cities across 13 countries.
As we pointed out earlier, there could be some friction between booking an cab through Zomato (especially in India) as not all restaurants are accurately mapped on Zomato’s service.
While the partnership between Uber and Zomato is now global, it’s taxi aggregator is firmly looking to grow its service in India, and blow competition such as OLA away.
Uber has been partnering with more firms in India, announcing a tie up with Bennett Coleman & Co. and healthcare network Oxxy to offer free rides to hospitals.
