Chinese manufacturer ZTE has launched six smartphones and four data cards in India. The fourth largest mobile maker in the world has tied up Pune-based Calyx Communications to bring the phones to India. They will be offering a unique At Your Doorstep service in select cities, in which they will solve issues with users’ handsets at their homes. The 6 phones have been priced between Rs 5,799 and Rs 14,999. All the phones run on Android and come with just 512 MB of RAM, which is a disappointment. The lowest cost one the Kis Flex comes with Android 2.3 which the others have Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean on board.
ZTE also launched four 3G-enabled data cards under the Swift range costing between Rs 1,799 and Rs 2,499.
The company is aiming to be among the top three smartphone manufacturers in India in three years time and has said that they are already have 214 service centers across the country. The company at present will be concentrating on 5 markets – Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, but plan to have a pan-India presence by October. They will also launch tablets here by Diwali.
Samsung Launches Galaxy Tab 3 Series in India
Samsung India has launched Galaxy Tab 3 311, 310 (8-inch screen) and Galaxy Tab 3 211 (7-inch screen) in the country.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch will be available in two variants. The Galaxy Tab 3 311 has 3G capability while the Galaxy Tab 3 310 is a WiFi version only. The Galaxy Tab 311 has an 8”WXGA display, runs on Android Jellybean 4.2 and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual core processor with a 1.5GB RAM. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and 1.9-megapixel front camera, 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded by up to 64GB with MicroSD card and a 4450 mAh battery. The 3G version costs Rs 25,725 and the WiFO only model costs Rs. 21,945.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 211 has a a 7” WSVGA display powered by a a 1.2GHz dual core processor and 1GB RAM. It has 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded by up to 32GB and has a 4000mAh battery. It has a 3-megapixel camera rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front camera and comes with Android 4.1 aboard. It is priced at Rs 17,745.
BoxTV to Stream Bhojpuri Movies
BoxTV, the video streaming service by Times Internet Limited has tied up with Hyder Kazmi to make Bhojpuri content available online. The content will reach audience across Dhanbad, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Jamshedpur, Ranchi and other areas, the company said.
BoxTV will have a lineup of hit Bhojpuri movies starring Hyder Kazmi such as Ladaai, Kaalia, Rangbaaj.
“This is BoxTV’s first foray into the Bhojpuri entertainment space,” said Pandurang Nayak, Business Head, BoxTV.com.
