It’s All about You
As entrepreneurs, the one thing we have to keep on doing is showing up for our dreams and our ideas, because we’re the only ones that can turn them into reality.
Life is constantly nudging all of us to play bigger, to share our messages, to turn our ideas into reality, to chase our dreams.
You Are Your Biggest Problem
It’s not the time, the money, or any other excuse you think up. Sure, they might be valid problems, but the biggest problem you will have to overcome in order to show up for your dreams is YOU.
We overthink and overcomplicate everything. We shoot ourselves down because we think our goals are out of our reach, that we don’t deserve them, or that there are too many challenges in the way.
I’m here to tell you that you can achieve your goals and that you do deserve them, but first we have to stop letting two little words stand in our way…
The What Ifs?
The “what ifs” are what stop us from taking action. What if my idea isn’t good enough? What if no one likes it? What if I fail? These fears can be paralyzing. But what if we flip the script? What if my idea is wildly successful? What if people love it? What if I’m a success?
The truth is, we don’t know what will happen until we try. But if we never take that first step, we’ll never know. So if you have an idea, don’t let the “what ifs” hold you back. Take a chance. You might be surprised at what happens.
Overcome the What Ifs
Here are some tips for overcoming the “what ifs”:
- Identify your fears. What are you afraid of? Once you know what you’re afraid of, you can start to address them.
- Talk to someone you trust. Talking to someone about your fears can help you to feel less alone and more supported.
- Do your research. If you’re worried about something specific, do some research to see if there’s any evidence to support your fears.
- Take action. The best way to overcome your fears is to take action. The more you do something, the less scary it will become.
- Reward yourself. When you overcome a fear, reward yourself. This will help you to associate taking action with positive feelings.
Crack Yourself Open
One of the biggest reasons why we fail to show up for our dreams is that we lack clarity, especially in the beginning.
The knowing comes to us all in different ways, but it’s usually an unshakable feeling that you’re supposed to do something bigger with your life, something amazing.
Sometimes it’s our environment and experiences that spark the knowing inside of us, like a situation that’s making you feel unhappy or a challenge you’re facing. Other times, it’s the people around us who inspire us to want more.
We see them achieving amazing things and we know deep down that we can too. It could even be a blog, a movie, a piece of music that leaves us dreaming, ‘What if there’s more for me?’ But once we encounter our knowing, it niggles at us until we do something about it.
Make the decision to be curious
As you begin to explore and open yourself up to opportunities, make the decision to be more curious and choose to let your curiosity lead you wherever it wants to take you.
Allow yourself the space to open up and spot the “divine breadcrumbs” in your life. We all receive them, but most of the time we don’t pay attention. They’re the messages, signs, and changes in our lives that tell us we are on the right path or need to realign.
Sometimes it’s a wise friend who can listen and share their advice. Sometimes it’s just a simple email from a stranger who loves what you’re doing. Other times it can just be a feeling—that what you’re doing feels right.
So start paying attention. Journal, meditate, take some quiet time for yourself, learn, explore… Whatever works for you, take action. Just don’t do nothing.
Make Friends with Discomfort
Everyone who is trying to turn their ideas into a reality and build a successful business feels discomfort at some stage. We’re all pushing ourselves to do things we’ve never done before, and that causes the resistance to rise up – the fears, the doubts, the worries – and it feels uncomfortable.
Just know that this discomfort is not your destruction, it is your birth.
Give yourself permission to feel comfortable with being uncomfortable. Know that it is part of the journey and that it is helping you to grow.
Anything is possible when you put your mind to it. Believe that what you want is yours for the taking.
They thought it was impossible for a human being to run a mile in under four minutes. Well, we all now know that it is possible thanks to Roger Bannister, who believed when everyone else didn’t.
People are doing the impossible every day. Will you be one of them? Are you prepared to stand out from the crowd and believe that you can achieve things, even though some might think it’s impossible or unrealistic?
- Define your dreams. What do you want to achieve?
- Be curious and persistent. Keep learning and trying new things.
- Visualize success. Picture yourself achieving your goals.
- Choose empowering thoughts. Believe in yourself and your ability to succeed.
- Take action. Don’t wait for things to happen, make them happen.
- Get help and support. Surround yourself with positive people who believe in you.
- Celebrate your successes. Reward yourself for your hard work.
Remember, the road to success is not always easy, but it is always worth it. So don’t give up on your dreams. Keep working hard and never stop believing in yourself.
