Farmer suicides and the global food crisis [A story not told]


Post the formation of WTO, and the creation of a new global economic order, the fate of farmers in developing countries has been drastically altered. While newer policies have given dividends, the horrifying story of unabating farmer suicides in India continues.

Why is this happening? What can be done to stem this? And how should governments look at the urban-rural divide? Devinder Sharma, a trained agricultural scientist who is also a journalist, writer and trade policy analyst spoke at TEDxRGNUL to provide his take on all of this, calling for a radical reform of the agricultural system in this country.
