Wishing Pi readers a Happy Independency Day.
We present you some of the most interesting videos of India’s Independence day that flies from the glorious past to the current state.
Nehru’s Speech in 1947
“At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn moment we take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity.” – Read the full text of Jawahar Lal Nahru’s Independence day speech
63 years later, India has achieved tremendous success in technology field and we are on our way to become a great technology superpower, but politicians and their mean objectives keeps pulling back the country.
Corruption, Lack of ownership, blame games by politicians is hampering the country growth (CommonWealth Games or CW Blames?) and my request to the most tech savvy crowd of India (i.e. Pi readers) would be to think beyond the e-revolution, social media impact etc and do something more meaningful (i.e. on-the-ground) – be it something as small as taking public transportation once every week to contribute your *bit* to curb the rising pollution, which is hampering the health of children in a manner we can’t even imagine.
I shared this video last year and resharing the same this year as well – the sentiments remains the same.
In ‘keep the faith‘ spirit, here is probably one of the most amazing rendition of the anthem
