If Meta detects a user is under 18, it will start asking them to confirm they are over 18 on Facebook Dating. The user can then verify their age by uploading a video of themselves taking a selfie or by sharing a copy of their ID.
Meta employs the company Yoti to use facial features to estimate a user’s age without identifying them.
