Bill Gates’ net worth tops $90 billion, equal to 0.5% of US GDP

The richest man in the world just got richer, thanks to the gains he made in his holdings including Canadian National Railway Company and Ecolab Inc.

Gates is now $13.5 billion bigger than that of the world’s second-wealthiest person, Spanish retail mogul Amancio Ortega. At $90 billion, the former Microsoft chief’s net worth is also equal to 0.5% of US GDP and $5 billion larger than the entire GDP of Sri Lanka.
